HAIR

in the Loeb Experimental Theater

Harvard Radcliffe Dramatic Club

April 26-29, 2012

The first true rock musical, Hair portrays a group of politically concerned and rebellious hippies known as "The Tribe" who live in New York City during the tumultuous 1960s. Claude, Berger, Sheila and their long-haired friends struggle to balance their ideals of peace and free sexuality with the cruel reality of the Vietnam War and conservative American society. Our staging will transform this iconic American musical into an interactive, immersive, and socially relevant theatrical experience.

Cabaret

in the Loeb Experimental Theater

Harvard Radcliffe Dramatic Club

Nov 9-17, 2012

Set at the eve of the Nazi party’s rise to power in Weimar Germany, Cabaret depicts the interlocking stories of a cabaret singer, a writer from America, and the citizens of Berlin as they navigate through the turbulent maelstrom of changing society. On a visit to Berlin, American novelist Clifford Bradshaw is drawn to the seedy yet decadent Kit Kat Klub where he meets and begins an affair with singer Sally Bowles. Ultimately, the entertainment at the Kit Kat Klub serves not as an escape from the grim reality of 1930s Germany, but as a provocative commentary on this pivotal historical moment.

Wonderful Town

on the Loeb Mainstage

Harvard Radcliffe Dramatic Club

April 5-13, 2013

With an effervescent score that brilliantly and hilariously fuses urban jitters with quixotic tenderness, Wonderful Town follows the adventures (and misadventures) of small-town sisters Ruth and Eileen as they seek to forge new beginnings amidst the mayhem of the big city. Leonard Bernstein’s irresistible portrait of 1930s Manhattan documents the joys and struggles of ambitious youth, conveying an infatuation with life in the city that is at once timely and blissfully reminiscent.
